The purpose of the book and facsimile plates was to explain conversion rates between the U.S. and Europe for the Loan of 1861 and onward being sold there by Cooke and others. This is a fascinating and difficult to assemble collection which appears to have come from several sources. This series is cited in Hessler page 235, but it should have been moved forward just prior to the 1867 Consols. <p>1. Blue self wrapped book. 1867. Octavo. 12 pages. Three folded in plates of facsimile May 1, 1862 bonds at end. Wear, some tears, but plates in fine condition. <p>2-4. Broken out plates for another copy. $100, $500, and $1000. These worn, with spitting, tears etc. 5. Smaller size format edition. Text only, no cover for book. Worn, tears, loose title page. Overall quality of the group is Very Good.From the John E.
