The principal portion (without the coupons under on issued bonds or final proofs) face printed in black on white on India paper die sunk to its original card by the Continental Bank Note Company. 31.5cm by 19.5cm. Coupons under bond style. Top center with Altar of Liberty. Lower left Justice standing and lower right America with standing flag and eagle (or Liberty depending on your viewpoint of patriotic allegorical vignettes). The Hessler Plate Bond illustrated on page 226. Beautiful quality. Very faint wisps of foxing here and there. A beauty and, like the $50, last sold in 1991 privately.
