拍品描述： [United States].  Broadside for “Interesting Questions and Answers Relative to the 7-30 U.S. Loan” on behalf of Jay Cooke & Co. Fine.An interesting and rare single sheet broadside, uniface, on bond paper with imprint of Ledger Job Printing Establishment. 24.5cm by 30.5cm. The "7-30 U.S. Loan" comprised the Three Year Interest Bearing Notes with five coupons at the side (Fr.207 to Fr. 212 types) which are some of the rarest known issued United States type notes (such as examples sold from the Joel R. Anderson Collection). The content of the broadside in question and answer form explains that rarity. Not only were most of these high denominations redeemed, but the 7.30% guaranteed rate was extraordinary for the time, but necessary as the war in 1862 to early 1863 had some bleak prospects for the Union. These "7-30" notes also were convertible favorably into 6% gold backed loans, even if they floated to a higher rate on the open market. Published by Jay Cooke & Co. with their footer at the bottom. Normal folds, toned, some minor thins and tiny voids, but quite sharp. Obviously, much more affordable than a "7-30" type note, but equally historic.From the John E.
