[United States]. Engraver’s Scrapbook for Edwin L. Pitcher with Federal Bond Die Elements. Very Good.A unique octavo volume with hand constructed pages with engraved elements cut from National Banknote Company printed dies for several important series. It appears Pitcher was involved with counters and dies, not vignettes. There are 31 pages containing elements. Two dies for NBN engraved Loan of 1861 registered bonds. There is also a circular die for the back of the green "Dix" note proofs from Louisiana (three known according to our research). Cover wear, internal foxing, spine gone. With clasp but closes meekly. Very Good or so. Important tie in with the Federal Loan die proofs within. We believe this was previously from the Jack Voorhies and earlier from the Julian Blanchard collections. From the John E. Herzog Collection.
