This an unusual and rare pairing of woodblock printed Treasury Note facsimiles cut from larger political/satirical broadsides or counterfeit detector newspapers. The original full size sheets, from which these are cut, are both very rare.
1: Facsimile $50 United States Treasury Note (Hessler X102 series) printed 1840 date. This is cut from its original "Van Buren Currency" large folio satirical sheet broadside (cf. Ford X: 4208), but without its subtitle "Then on This." 21cm by 21cm with text remaining along the bottom. Partially hand colored and red underlines on some text. A Xerox copy of the full broadside is included for context. Fine, small piece out. Full broadside brought $3,910 at Ford VI;
2: Full size detector note of Loan of 1846 $50 Treasury Note (Hessler X110A type). Undated, cut down with margin.
