T-12. Confederate Currency. 1861 $5. PMG Choice Fine 15.PF-1. No. 720. Plate I. Known as the "Manouvrier" after its New Orleans printer J. Maouvrier, this was a short lived type of which only 15,556 were issued. The Confederate government in Richmond was not fond of the types simplistic style despite the fact that it is the only 1861 type with a printed back. The presently offered note comes without many of the issues which commonly plague this type. Small penciled 12 at the back lower left. From the Wealth of the South Collection.
