T-3. Confederate Currency. 1861 $100. PCGS Currency Very Fine 30.No. 397, Plate A. This $100 Montgomery note was issued May 22, 1861 by Assistant Confederate Treasurer A.J. Guirot. It spent only two weeks in the channels of Confederate commerce before it was presented for redemption at the custom house of F.H. Hatch in New Orleans where the sum of $100.15 cents, being both principal and interest, was paid out to the bearer. The note displays a rubber stamped cancellation from the custom house on the face as well as a large custom house redemption stamp on the verso. The note is well printed and boldly colored. The paper is only moderately circulated and faces up quite nicely. The note has been cut cancelled and the cancellations have been closed. The grading service also makes mention of repairs. They appear to be internal repairs within the body of the note at left. From the Green Valley Collection.
