Obverse: Bust right, in military attire; Reverse: Map of China and the Yellow Sea, with eight stars surrounding in outer ring. A RARE and enchanting issue pertaining to a particularly pivotal period, this nearly-choice specimen--despite some scattered friction</em>--yields a high degree of lustrous brilliance and also sports a deeply burnished tone. This medal actually comes in two different modules: 39mm, as is the case here, and 34.5mm, which features overall a very similar design, but with the Kaisers helmet extending into the obverse legend and without eight-starred outer ring on the reverse. Both versions appear to be of similar RARITY.
