Circa 1859 Patriae Pater / Edwin Forrest medal by Frederick C. Key. Musante GW-232, Baker-220. White Metal. MS-64 (PCGS).27.7 mm. Frosty and almost fully brilliant surfaces with nice reflectivity in the fields. A small imperfection right of Forrest’s face and some narrow streaks are seen on the other side, but the eye appeal overall is excellent. This type is known only in this composition and just 20 examples were struck according to the September 1860 sale catalog by Bangs, Merwin & Co. Quite rare as such.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
