1806 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-116, T-20. Rarity-3. Pointed 6, Stem Through Claw. AU-55 (NGC).,A marbling of blue and violet shades dominates the centers of this beautiful example, accented by a warm red-orange glow at the borders. The strike is pleasing for the variety, with just a slight weakness at the central obverse and sharp definition elsewhere. Bountiful mint luster shimmers in the protected regions, complementing the overall unblemished surfaces throughout. These dies are now heavily worn, showing dramatic cracks that connect the peripheral devices. The crack through the bottom of the date is thick and extends from below star 15 clockwise through the left stars and into the L of LIBERTY. A similar crack spans the left side of the reverse, extending from below the eagles tail up through STATE. An attractive and technically Choice example.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties. Acquire privately from Alpine Numismatics, February 1989.,
