1806 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-115, T-17. Rarity-1. Pointed 6, Stem Through Claw. AU-53 (NGC).,A faint prooflike reflectivity glistens across the fields on each side of this stunning AU piece. The surfaces are largely brilliant and untoned, save for a subtle tinge of bronze and steel blue at the obverse border. Magnified inspection fails to expose any blemishes of note, vindicating the smooth and pristine complexion. <p>The intermediate die state shown here lacks the reverse cracks of O-115a but exhibits the fully developed obverse cracks equivalent to Tompkins Die Stage 4. Repunching on TY of LIBERTY readily identifies this common obverse die, while the reverse die is unique to this marriage. A dramatic and flashy example that borders on Choice level of preservation.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties.
