1806 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-120a, T-28. Rarity-4. Pointed 6, Stem Through Claw. VF-20 (NGC).,A vibrant display of cobalt and violet iridescence saturates the peripheries of this slate-grey example. Largely untroubled and well preserved, an old pinscratch wanders up Libertys neck that has long been worn into the overall complexion. The reverse die is now nearly terminal, showing a cud at the shield that consumes the tops of stripes 2, 3, 4, 5, and part of 6. The cracks at AM of AMERICA are now a trio of heavy breaks with chipping out of the die equivalent to Tompkins Die Stage 6. An appealing and dramatic piece last offered in Bowers and Merenas sale of March 1987.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties. Earlier ex from our (Bowers and Merenas) sale of March 1987, lot 725.,
