1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Left. C-4. Rarity-3. Good Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).,A respectable example of this one year design type from the United States Mints premier half cent issue. The obverse retains bolder detail than the reverse with Libertys portrait, the word LIBERTY and the date clear. On the reverse the wreath is bold, but the lettering and denomination 1/200 are faint and only partially discernible. Overall rough in texture with scattered pitting that explains the PCGS qualifier, otherwise dark olive-copper surfaces yield to bright pink devices, the latter suggestive of an old cleaning. The four known die marriages of the 1793 half cent are of roughly equal scarcity in numismatic circles, Cohen-4 offered here conditionally challenging and typically offered in low grades.,From the Dr. James McCallum Collection.
