Specimen-64 BN (PCGS).,Semi-reflective mahogany bronzing is evenly applied to both sides of this attractive medal. Some contact marks are evident on the obverse, the single notable one over the letter S in WASHINGTON. This piece was struck from the 1859 dies created at the behest of Colonel James Ross Snowden during the height of the Washingtoniana craze. By 1904 a total of 303 examples had been struck from the replacement dies. Specimens produced after that time have the modern sandblast appearance.From the LJV Philadelphia Collection.
