1842 Braided Hair Cent. N-6, 10. Rarity-1. Large Date. MS-64 BN (PCGS). CAC. A glossy and highly attractive example toned in a blend of golden and steel-brown. Original mint color in vivid reddish-rose persists in the protected areas around many of the design elements on the reverse. The focal features exhibit razor sharp striking detail, all areas with a hard and satiny texture, and the surfaces with abundant gloss. One of the two dozen Mint State survivors from these dies reported by Bob Grellman (2021), this premium Choice example certified by PCGS and verified by CAC is sure to please the discerning numismatist. Grellman Die State a, scarce since the author notes that State c is the usual state for these dies.
