1841 Braided Hair Cent. N-3. Rarity-2. MS-64 BN (PCGS). Scarce near-Gem quality for this better date Petite Head Braided Hair cent. Substantial mint red remains on the obverse, perhaps a third or more of that side retaining its original color. The reverse shows traces of red as well in addition to full, frosty mint luster. The overall amount of red seems to be deserving of an RB color designation, and in fact this coin resided in a PCGS MS-64 RB holder in a previous auction appearance. The surfaces are well-preserved and free of noticeable contact marks. Late die state, Grellman state d. From Heritages sale of the Joshua and Ally Walsh Collection, January 2006, lot 631 (where certified PCGS MS-64 RB and that label is included).
