1821 Matron Head Cent. N-1. Rarity-1. EF-45 (PCGS). Warm sandy-brown patina blankets both sides, the obverse further enlivened by an overlay of copper-rose toning. The latter side retains some good gloss, and both are hard and satiny with no marks of note. A speck of verdigris on the obverse at star 8 is mentioned for accuracy. Although both die marriages of this issue are readily obtainable in an absolute sense, their combined population is limited enough to identify the 1821 as one of the scarcer dates in the Matron Head cent series.
