Illinois--Du Quoin. Undated (1861-1865) J. Hayes & Bro. Fuld-215A-4a. Rarity-8. Copper. Plain Edge. 19 mm. Choice Mint State. Splashes of olive-gay patina leave plenty of vivid pinkish-rose color on both sides of this sharply struck example. Satiny in finish, faint traces of semi-reflectivity are evident as the surfaces dip into a light. This type, originally attributed to Ohio as Fuld-165BP, was produced by Lanphear shop in Cincinnati for the J. Hayes and Bro. saloon in Du Quoin, Illinois.
