1910 Progress in Aviation Medal by the Chicago Numismatic Society. Copper. 51 mm. Malpas-186. MS-64 (PCGS). Uniform light brown copper with thin outlines of faded red inside the rims and around the central obverse device. Some minor handling consistent with the grade and a small oxidation spot on the obverse rim. Very nicely preserved and attractive. This is the second medallic issue by the Chicago Numismatic Society and it is reported that just 200 medals were struck by Whitehead & Hoag. Far scarcer than the U.S.S. Nashville plaque, which was the first issue by the CNS. No examples of this medal appear in our online archives.
