Obv: Victorious Liberty with torch and sword stands before mountain peaks, inscription ALIS VOLAT PROPRIIS below. Rev: Oak and laurel wreath encloses eight-line Independence Proclamation inscription. Edge: STERLING. Pleasing pearl gray surfaces with darker tones highlighting the major devices. There is a small test mark, not visible from the front or back, on the edge at 1 oclock. The revolution against Spanish rule began Sept. 16, 1810, with Father Miguel Hidalgo Grito de Dolores, the Cry of Dolores.
