Benton, Illinois. Union Bank. May 1, 1864. Uncut Pair $1-$2. About Uncirculated.(IL-55 G2a-G2b both SENC) ANBC. An interesting uncut $1-$2 pair of notes from this rare Benton bank which operated in the early part of the 1860s. These notes have an interesting layout with a split title format. The $1 note displays the auditors seal at center and large vignettes in the top corners. The $2 note displays a woman standing by a column labeled Union at center. Both notes feature a red lathe denominational protector at bottom center and a blue printed 49506 serial number. This pair comes sharply printed on crisp paper that exhibits just light handling.
