1849-D Liberty Half Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS).;This boldly defined 1849-D half eagle displays appreciable satin luster and is superior to most lightly circulated Dahlonega Mint fives. Bright and even golden yellow patina on both sides enhances an already pleasing appearance. The 1849-D has a mintage of 39,036 pieces and is an overlooked issue among casual collectors. In reality the 1849-D is very scarce in an absolute sense with examples in the finer circulated and Mint State grades quite rare. Solidly graded at the Choice EF level, and aesthetically pleasing, this coin represents the finest in quality that many Southern gold specialists can realistically hope to acquire for this challenging issue.;
