1844-O Liberty Half Eagle. MS-61 (PCGS).；This sharply struck and lustrous 1844-O half eagle has a bright, satiny, golden-yellow appearance and very nice surfaces for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is suggestive of a higher Mint State rating. The 1844-O has a generous (for the era) mintage of 364,600 pieces, and it is obtainable with ease in circulated grades, especially VF and EF. However, it is conditionally rare in Mint State. The present example, one of the nicest we have handled in recent memory, will be just right for inclusion in an advanced collection.；From our (Stacks) Metropolitan New York Numismatic Convention sale, May 1971, lot 1407.
