1847-C Liberty Half Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS).;Offered is an overall boldly struck and well preserved 1847-C half eagle, an underrated condition rarity among C-Mint fives. Subtle pinkish-rose highlights drift over predominantly medium gold surfaces. Softness of detail is largely confined to the hair curls over Libertys brow, the balance of the design elements are quite sharp. Appreciable satin luster adds to the appeal, making this a desirable coin for inclusion in a high quality gold collection. While the 1847-C has the highest mintage (84,151 pieces) among Charlotte Mint half eagles, it is not the easiest Charlotte Mint five to locate finer than EF-45; high grade survivors are rarer than those of the 1849-C, 1850-C, 1852-C, 1853-C, 1857-C and 1858-C. Expect fierce competition for this attractive Choice AU.;From our (Stacks) Goshen Collection sale, February 1978, lot 1133. Lot tag included.
