1848 Liberty Half Eagle. MS-62 (PCGS).；This Mint State 1848 half eagle displays soft satiny luster and pretty honey-orange patina on both sides. It is well struck for an 1840s $5, despite a touch of softness to the central high points. This attractive Uncirculated survivor belongs in an advanced collection. The 1848 is one of the more frequently encountered half eagles from this decade, but in Mint State it is nothing short of rare. The currently offered coin is among the finest examples that we have offered in quite some time.；
