A handsome example of this short-lived and unusual design from the early 1890s. Compared to most of its surviving peers this note stands far and above on account of technical quality and eye appeal. Graded Choice Uncirculated 64 by the likes of PCGS Banknote; the reasoning for the assigned grade is readily apparent and defies conjecture and question. Crisp Gem-like margins are particularly attractive and easily noticed and come in the company of good exemplified by the contrast between the Treasury overprint and engraved elements of the design. The one-off portrait of Treasury Secretary Windom is also particularly interesting owing to the obscurity of the honoree who shares his name with his Great Grandson William Windom who was a prolific television actor active during the 1960s and 1970s appearing in shows such as <em>The Twilight Zone</em> or <em>Star Trek</em> in a series of memorable guest roles. By any measure, the standout feature of this design is the back design composed from three large geometric elements that have been emblazoned with the necessary clauses and counters to identify this item as an instrument of circulation.
