Even though much can be said about the Series of 1886 $2 Silver Certificate whether it be Hancocks status as the 1880 Democratic Presidential nominee or the intricate design on the back composed from an assemblage of interlocking floral embellishments and scattered geometric lathework on the back. The truth remains that this design represents one of the most intricate and rather unusual designs ever put to print by the Bureau of Engraving & Printing during the closing years of the Nineteenth Century. Represented by an evenly circulated specimen issued at some point between 1889 and 1891 based on the short-lived Rosecrans - Huston signature combination, this eye appealing specimen does well to demonstrate the peculiarities of this design and offers the discerning collector much in the way of quality when held against our estimate.
