Representative of one of the earliest Replacements to use a star to denote its status as Replacement. This distinction was first introduced in 1910 and continues to be used through the present in large quantities. Early Replacements are nonetheless a scarce sight and one represented infrequently at auction. The Fr. 252 although a common note with overall survivors numbering in excess of 500 individual pieces per Track & Price is represented by a small handful of Replacements that number less than 20. Of that figure most are represented by pieces lower than this one in terms of grade assigned. Granted most recent offerings surpassingly represent a small run of Gem Uncirculated specimens that represent roughly a quarter of the surviving population. A note like this one is a scarce prospect as the last comparable example was offered in 2022 and before that in 2018 and serves to demonstrate the infrequent nature of an opportunity on par with the offering of this specimen. From the Hararn Family Collection.
