A few with prices realized lists, but most without. Parts I and III are the rarer gray leather bound volumes, while the remaining parts are in the standard red bindings. All lettered in gilt on the covers and spines, and all with the blind stamped federal eagle motif at the central covers. Though not perfectly matched, this is arguably one of the most important series of numismatic sales ever conducted, with scholarly presentations of many important and historic series beyond what was issued by the federal mint. Many of the series featured are frequently represented in typical sales by just a few pieces, while the Ford holdings approached <em>definitive</em> in cases such as the Indian Peace medals, Encased postage, and others. Currency and Western numismatic Americana are well represented, with these areas being of strong interest to Mr. Ford. His collection did not just represent a generation’s worth of collecting, but rather was the result of him building upon important and extensive holdings assembled by collectors of older generations such as those of Hillyer Ryder, F.C.C. Boyd and Wayte Raymond, which he was able to acquire in large portions, intact. Meanwhile, the entire enterprise was supported by his keen mind and eye, as well as the scholarship found in his numismatic library, one of the greatest formed in this country.
