A scarce catalog of a small but very important sale that featured early American coins selected by a traveling collector, William Strickland, at the time of their circulation. This singular choice to acquire specimens of the young nation preserved some truly remarkable specimens that stand today as some of the very finest known among 1794-dated cents, 1795 half dollars and 1794-1795 silver dollars. Naturally several of these coins made their way into the D. Brent Pogue Collection. The catalog is housed in a custom clamshell box, finished in the style of a black three-quarter calf binding, the boards in deep green cloth with gilt titles.
