Chapman, S.H. & H. Catalogue of the Magnificent Collection of Coins of the United States Formed by the Late Harlan P. Smith, Esq. May 8-11, 1906. Fine.Quarto. Hardbound in the original white half cloth and boards, lettered in gilt on the front cover. With 14 original, numbered photographic plates, each with “Smith Collection” at the bottom. Original prices realized and rare errata page laid in. Cover titles a bit faded, with wear and small bumps on the edges. A couple of interior weaknesses in the binding but respectably solid otherwise, with rather bright pages. Hand priced in pencil throughout the American offerings, the world coins being neglected in this respect. One of the last few sales of the S.H. & H. Chapman partnership and the last one given an “A+” ranking by John Adams. Quite useful with the nice plates featuring coins of exceptional quality, the kind that end up in only the finest of collections. From the D. Brent Pogue Library.
