An important piece and the motto on back relates this to the Fugio coppers of the period. Two different signatures used on this series.A remarkably interesting note previously from our March 2007 sale of the John J. Ford Collection Part XVII where we described it in part "The Newman Plate Note (Robertson named plate plate) was in the DuPont Sale. This example is vastly superior to the Dupont: Lot 2212 at $440.00 in 1993. Crisp, naturally toned as made. A few light folds and rumpling. The margins on both sides are broad. A museum caliber example with a four figure calculation more than logical."This is the finest example we have seen of the type. It realized $4887.50 in our 2007 sale. Prior to being acquired by Ford it was part of the vast holdings of the F.C.C. Boyd Collection.
