Uncut Pair of New York, New York. Bulls Head Bank of the City of New York. 1850s. $50-$100. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Uncut Proof Pair. India paper mounted on original archive book card. Imprint of Danforth, Wright & Co., New York & Philad. $50: Left, large portrait of a bulls head. Right, two horses galloping. $100: Top left, smaller portrait of a bulls head. Center, "ONE HUNDRED" encased in lovely lathe work. Extremely rare and appropriately titled. The bank loved their bulls head vignettes. This is the only example we are aware of and have ever offered for sale. It was last purchased out of the Christies ABNC sale in 1990 as Lot 1191. Our estimate should prove extremely conservative.
