Uncut Sheet of (4) Hackensack, New Jersey. Bergen County Bank. 1850s $1-$2-$3-$5. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. Proof Sheet. NJ-170, G2-G4-G6-G8. Engraved date November 26, 1855. Imprint of Danforth, Wright and Company, New York and Philadelphia. The Bergen County Bank was a smallish institution in northern New Jersey. In 1857 its capital was a modest $50,000. Louis Becker was president, and C.D. Taylor was cashier. Deeply engraved and beautifully vignetted, this sheet is truly an aesthetic delight. The $1, $3 and $5 are priced in Haxby, but the $2 denomination is listed as SENC. This was sold in Christies 1990 ABNC sale as lot 954.
