Plymouth, Michigan. Wayne County Bank at Plymouth. 1830s $20. PMG Very Fine 30. (MI-320 G12). Lee PLY 1-8. Dec. 13, 1837. The Lee Plate Note. An incredibly elusive issue on the Wayne County bank. Unfathomably lovely quality as any devotee of Michigan obsoletes could tell you. This highest denomination is also easily the scarcest for this series. The combination of crushing rarity and extremely high grade tends to produce a synergistic effect in an auction format, thus producing record price realizations. This same note sold in a 2004 sale for just under $900. That figure is laughable in todays market.
