T-10. Confederate Currency. 1861 $10. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58.No. 44432, Plate A. PF-15. Over 170,000 of the Hoyer & Ludwig printed 1861 $10s were issued and this example is the single finest graded by either PMG or PCGS. In fact it is the only T-10 to be certified as About Uncirculated or better. This type was a workhorse note and many found are heavily circulated. In fact, T-10 is rare seen in grades above Fine. The example here is a personal favorite of the consignors and comes on thick bond paper that experienced only light handling rather than real circulation. The small 10 counter is seen at top left and "for" is handwritten by the signer over "Treasr." The grading service notes "Restoration" on the back of the holder. That appears to be limited to a small area at the top center of the note. Likely the best example of a T-10 you will ever see. From The Cleo Collection of Confederate Paper Money.
