New York, New York. Oriental Bank. 1850s. $1. PMG Extremely Fine 40 Net. Mounted on Card, Corners Torn & Repaired. Serial Number 1.(NY-1855 G2 SENC) Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson. New York. Man leaning on ax by fallen tree at center. Reverse of period Gold Dollar coin to his left. Woman seated holding bird overhead at lower left. State die lower left. Bird at bottom center. An incredibly rare issued note from this New York bank for which all issued notes are listed as SENC by Haxby. Furthermore, this is example bears a boldly penned serial number 1 at right. Neatly penned signatures of bank officers Hall and Price are seen in the signature panels. This note was mounted on heavy card stock long ago and some edge and corner faults can be observed. Still an impressive New York City obsolete banknote and the only issued note we have seen from the bank. PMG comments "Mounted on Card, Corners Torn & Repaired."
