1914 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. MS-64 (NGC). A rich golden-orange iridescence blankets the satiny, matte-like surfaces of this charming near-Gem. Boldly rendered and remarkably beautiful. This is a challenging date and mint to find this well preserved and one that is far more difficult to obtain any finer than the MS-64 grade level. The original mintage is low at 95,250 pieces and most of those seen today fall into the lower grades of Mint State, having survived in bags that were shipped overseas for a long generation or two before coming back to these shores to the delight of collectors today.
