1799 Capped Bust Right Eagle. BD-10, Taraszka-22. Rarity-3. Large Obverse Stars. Net VF-30 (ANACS). AU Details--Acid Treated, Tooled. OH. While far from the rarest issue in the Capped Bust Right eagle series of 1795-1804, the 1799 is anything but common in an absolute sense, either. As with all early U.S. gold, the 1799 (37,449 pieces produced) has an extremely low survival rate. Furthermore, those coins that are extant are under extreme type collector pressure as representatives of the Large (or Heraldic) Eagle variant of our nations first ten dollar gold design. Deeply set green-gold color overlays both sides and lightens to yellow-gold shades as the surfaces dip into a light. Some dark toning is seen within the devices on the left side of the reverse.
