1847 Liberty Head Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). A beautiful near-Mint survivor painted in rich saffron-yellow tones. Well struck with just a faint trace of friction across the high points and strong luster flooding the fields. With the highest mintage of its type (862,258 circulation strikes), the 1847 is easily the most common No Motto Liberty Head eagle in terms of total number of coins extant. A quick study of the PCGS Population Report shows a great concentration of coins in the EF-40 to AU-50 range, however, at the Choice AU level it becomes a considerable challenge.
