Salt Lake City, Utah. Bingham Canton & Camp Floyd R.R. Co. Payable at the Salt Lake City National Bank. January 15, 1874. $5. Very Fine. Remainder.Imprint of H. Siebert & Bros., New York. Red protector and large 5 lat left. Green security back. Center, in circle, train. Lower left, Indian. Right end, Athena. Serial number 94 in red at left. Unsigned. An extremely rare denomination from a series we have some familiarity in handling, though only the $1 and $2 denominations. While this issue is commonly referred to as issued by the Salt Lake City National Bank it was actually payable there. These were issued by the Bingham Canyon & Camp Floyd Rail Road Company. This is the first $5 example we have encountered. The printed inks are bold with rich red protector inks observed.
