拍品描述： Indianola, Texas. City of Indianola. Aug. 6, 1862. 10 Cents. Very Fine.(Medlar Unlisted) Imprint of the Texas Printing House, Houston. Serial number 23 in red near bottom center. "TEN CENTS" spelled out in ornate left end panel. Signature of William T. Yancy, Recorder horizontally at left. Mayor H.B. (Clarendon?) has signed at bottom right. While scrip is known on Calhoun County this is the first note we have ever encountered issued by the City of Indianola. The series is not represented in the Rowe-Barr Collection at SMU. This note was "receivable for all Corporate and Hospital Dues." Indianola is now a ghost town on Matagorda Bay. It was virtually wiped out after devastating hurricanes in 1875 and 1886. The town was abandoned after the second hurricane and subsequent fire. This note comes sharply inked on clean, evenly circulated paper.
