A contemporary, period printed India paper proof on card by the ABNCo., but without the green frame or protector used on issued notes. This example is unique to our knowledge and was part of the four-subject sheet from the Newman Collection. Its distinctive design placed it on the front cover of Newman Part VII auction catalog. The layout features a demure and girl (apparently playing dress-up with and holding pearl necklaces) in an oval frame, beneath the curving title and above the arced denomination. Numerical counters flank. Sir Edwin Landseers Monarch of the Glen is at lower left; at lower right, an eagle used on Federal notes, with wings upraised, is upon a rock. Bold. Hole punch cancelled as made. The PCGS Apparent notes minor stains, we do not see them readily. Ex Newman Part VII: 18420 where it realized $3,055 in October 2015. Stylish and unique.
