Baltimore, Maryland. Fells Point Savings Institution. ND (18xx). $100. Choice Uncirculated. Proof.(MD-70 Unlisted) Draper, Welsh & Co. Phila. Girl holding hen and chicks in oval frame at bottom left. Large view of U.S. Capitol Building at center. Sailor with telescope at bottom right. Ornate 100 counters in top corners. Red HUNDRED protector below title at center. This impressive $100 Proof is very likely unique for the design. The Fells Point Savings Institution changed its name to the Fells Point Bank of Baltimore and only notes bearing that title are listed in Haxby. All denominations from the bank are SENC save for the $1. This note comes to us originally from lot #605 of the 1990 ABNC sale where it was the only $100 from the bank in the lot. It was last offered publicly in the 2002 Fun Auction. The note features oversized margins characteristic of being from a single note plate. The paper is bright with boldly inked design elements. Just some very minor mounting residue is seen on the back. Small pinholes in the top left and bottom left corners. An exceptional note from this rare Baltimore bank and an opportunity to secure a design type that may not come available again for decades.
