Houston, Texas. Republic of Texas. Sept. 2, 1838. $3. PCGS Currency Very Good 10.(Shull Cr. H27) Childs, Clark & Co. N. Orleans. A rare early Republic $3 type which we have rarely been able to offer. A steamboat is seen at left. A water god pours water from a jug at center. Thomas Jefferson appears within a portrait at right. A small eagle is at bottom center. This example is well circulated yet the design elements remain boldly inked and clearly legible. Two cut cancellations are seen. The grading service makes a comment for tears which are commensurate with the level of circulation. From the Green Valley Collection.
