Peterborough, New Hampshire. $5 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 598. The First NB. Charter #1179. PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.This is an exceptional note on this Hillsborough County charter as it retains fully original paper throughout along with bold banking signatures. The centering and margins are also notable. Although nearly 40 large-size are noted in census information, this offering is certainly among the finest in terms of overall appeal and quality.pThe First National Bank of Peterborough was chartered in 1865 as a conversion (transfer of assets and liabilities to a new corporation) of the state-chartered Peterborough Bank. The National Bank was organized with a capital of $50,000, almost immediately increased to the authorized limit of $100,000. The bank commenced business on May 29, 1865, in the Granite Block in the rooms used by the Peterborough Bank. There was little change in appearance or anything else.
