Manchester, New Hampshire. $1 1875. Fr. 384. The Manchester NB. Charter #1059. PMG Fine 12.All first charter period notes on New Hampshire are rare and this attractive Fine-12 Manchester note is no exception. Just four of the design are found in current census information and all from that quartet are roughly equivalent to this note in terms of appeal. Bold penned details and even circulation offer nice detail for the assigned grade. In April 1865 the Manchester National Bank was organized as a new bank without a formal corporate link to the past, although there was a de facto connection with the Manchester Bank whose assets were later transferred.ppThe bank was successful non-stop. In the 1930s the Manchester National Bank had scarcely any problem with the Depression, its capital was never impaired, and through this era of banking trauma it never received even the slightest admonition from examiners-a truly remarkable accomplishment and record!pp
