1860 Abraham Lincoln. DeWitt-AL 1860-31. Bronzed copper. 34 mm. MS-65 BN (NGC).,Another superb medal from this series by F.B. Smith, this being just slightly less rare than that offered above, but nearly as desirable. The bronzing on this piece is a bit uneven, leaving the surfaces a bit mottled, but still glossy and sharp. Light filing marks on the rims are noted, apparently deemed by NGC to be as made, which they could well be. Either way, they have little affect on the overall aesthetic. A white metal example recently sold in Heritages October 2017 sale, graded MS-63 (NGC). That piece brought $1,562 and, in general, bronze pieces are more desirable.,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens.
