T-32. Confederate Currency. 1861 $5. PMG About Uncirculated 50.No. 3831, Plate A. Leggett, Keatinge & Ball produced these high quality Fives based off of $5 notes issued by the Mechanics Savings Bank of Savannah, Georgia. The portrait of a young boy is seen at the bottom left while a blacksmith with his tools are seen at the bottom right. Bold orange tints are featured on the type with a 5 a top center, FIVE below and a V out to the far right. This type is very difficult to obtain in problem free grades above Very Fine. The present note is truly exceptional as it is the single finest PMG or PCGS graded T-32 by a full 10 points. The darkly inked design is printed in sharp detail on fully framed bright paper. The protector is bold as are the handwritten issuing signatures. Just the lightest hints of handling are seen from the back. From the face the note appears fully Uncirculated. Obtained by our consignor from lot #589 of the September 1987 offering of Douglas Balls collection by NASCA. Likely the only chance most collectors will ever get at a T-32 of this caliber. From The Cleo Collection of Confederate Paper Money.
