T-31. Confederate Currency. 1861 $5. PCGS Choice About New 58.No. 10775, Plate B. An outstanding "Five Females" note that sits alone at the top of the population reports as the single finest PCGS or PMG graded example of the type. This incredibly fresh note displays vibrant overprint inks and bright paper. The engraved design elements are all darkly inked including the representation of Minerva at left and the statue of George Washington at right. The five women at center which represent Commerce, Agriculture, Justice, Liberty and Industry are boldly printed in excellent detail. This note is well cut with full frame lines. The for Register and for Treasurer signatures are neatly inked and clear. Whatever limited this remarkable note from a full Choice New grade assignment is not clear through the PCGS holder. One of the truly great notes in the Cleo Collection and the one that stopped this cataloger in his tracks the moment he first saw it.From The Cleo Collection of Confederate Paper Money.
